On the 12th of May, our partner Rodrigo Louro presented the webinar “Building a better future”, alongside Wolney Betiol, founder of Synapse Venture Capital, and Carolina Assis, illiquid investment analyst at Turim MFO.

During th event, Wolney highlighted the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on the world and on the Venture Capital market.

According to the expert, the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems in particular, were some of the sectors that showed more resilience in the face of the crisis and stood out for the creation of new ideas and the search for solutions to society’s problems.

Wolney also assesses that the VC segment was strongly boosted in 2020 by the wave of IPOs, a very significant movement in the year.

“Last year, US$ 310 billion were allocated globally for investments in venture capital. From 2015 to 2020, the number of investments in this segment tripled. Now, the money is in the hands of venture capital managers, who currently have around US$ 1.3 trillion – the equivalent of Australia’s GDP”, highlighted Wolney.
